Paloma Cocktail

Can’t think of a better combination than Tequila and Grapefruit. Actually, I can, but for the purpose of this let’s not. The Paloma cocktail is one of my favorites, not only because it has such a great name, but it’s also simple and yet flavorful and light. And by the way, according to my research it’s the Paloma, not the margarita, that’s the most popular cocktail in Mexico. So let’s get to it! Here’s the recipe

(Makes 1 Paloma)

Ingredients:

  • 3 oz. of silver 100% agave tequila
  • 1 Grafruit, juiced
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • Sea salt
  • 1-2 tbsp of simple syrup (optional)
  • ½ cup seltzer water or club soda (I used a grapefruit flavor seltzer)

Prep

  1. Rim a glass with sea salt and add ice. Place in the freezer to chill.
  2. Combine the grapefruit juice, lime juice, tequila and simple syrup in a shaker. No need to add ice, since it may dilute the juices a bit. Shake it for 10-15 seconds, which will help bring out the citrus flavors. If you don’t have a shaker, simply add all the ingredients into the glass and stir them in.
  3. Bring out the glass from freezer and serve. Top it off with seltzer water and garnish with a grapefruit or lemon wedge.
